Unconcerned, our two resident Santas stare at each other from the safety of their command posts on opposite sides of the market place.

Their blood-red festive uniforms do little to hide their true feelings and, like modern day gladiators, they are eager to launch themselves into a duel from which only one can possibly emerge victorious. As the first shot is fired the unlikeliest of referees enters the arena. The battle has begun! The Two Santas introduces Hetty Hummer, Roger Chamberlain’s trusty mobility scooter. In 2014 The Tagman Press will be publishing An Angel in my Garage, the first novel in the Hetty Hummer trilogy.Reviews“I loved the complexity of the plot, and the detail and the humour.

When I finished it, I really felt that I had been there with you and your wicked mobility scooter mates.” Geoffrey Atkinson OBE“I laughed out loud at parts of it. It is the most amusing story you have written.” Brian AgerAbout the AuthorRoger Chamberlain is from Norfolk. He went to school in his home town of Sheringham and then North Walsham. A boyhood desire to join the Royal Navy was dashed aged 18 following a sailing accident.

So, instead, fate chose a more mundane career path and most of the following 30 years were spent working in banking. In 2006 he gave up full time work following a diagnosis for Multiple Sclerosis, which he had probably had by then for over 30 years.

Despite this continually misdiagnosed handicap, he had helped from one of the first active conservation groups in the country, sailed around the Hebrides and even climbed a ‘Munro’ or two in Scotland.Sadly, MS eventually forced Roger to give up all his ‘energetic ‘ hobbies. A quite period of transition followed, during which he was given a large, green and very old mobility scooter. One day, to fight off the boredom, he decided to write an e-mail to a friend with whom he had shared many of his previous adventures. To pad it out he included a story about the first journey that he had just completed on his mobility scooter.

More stories were requested and they were soon being passed between friends and family. To date, Roger has written over 28 very different stories. He has replaced his love of sailing, walking, climbing and conservation with ‘active’ writing. It is a love that is so intense in him that he really does experience genuine excitement as he writes and his enthusiasm and quirky sense of humour are apparent to all his readers.

He truly ‘lives’ in the stories as he writes, and it becomes a privilege to join him.Roger has two grown up stepsons and lives in Sheringham with his wife Katrina and his ‘ever faithful’ mobility scooter, Hetty Hummer.
